Weather Forecaster/News Producer – Kearney, Nebraska

Put your weather forecasting skills to work in a state where the weather is never boring.

News Channel Nebraska is looking for a motivated broadcaster to forecast weather and assist in the station’s news operation. Working at a statewide network, you’ll help tell the story of Nebraska’s weather from severe thunderstorms to blizzards and tornadoes to extreme heat.

In this position, you’ll regularly appear on statewide TV and social media channels, produce multiple forecasts each shift and have the opportunity to provide live coverage during significant weather events.

NCN is one of the fastest-growing media companies in the country. We use our network of TV stations, radio stations and social media pages to inform and entertain underserved populations in Nebraska.

NCN is an AccuWeather affiliate and uses the Storm Director+ weather system.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce and anchor weather forecasts
  • Record a minimum of six forecasts per shift
  • Live coverage of severe weather
  • Source, write and publish news content for TV
  • Produce and publish news content for the NCN website
  • Edit video for TV and digital platforms
  • Contribute to the company’s social media channels

Qualifications:

  • College degree in a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of weather systems and patterns
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Understanding of social media and digital platforms
  • Proficient with technology and willing to learn new systems
  • Must be able to work from Kearney, Neb.
